The <a href=\"https:\/\/rcm2.rcm.upr.edu\/start\/\"><strong>Medical Sciences Campus<\/strong><\/a> is one of two located at the capital city of San Juan and it has six (6) Schools and all offer Masters and Doctorates. In addition, some offer <a href=\"https:\/\/rcm2.rcm.upr.edu\/academic-offerings\/#CtBach\">post-baccalaureate certificates<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/rcm2.rcm.upr.edu\/academic-offerings\/#Bach\">bachelor&#8217;s<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/rcm2.rcm.upr.edu\/academic-offerings\/#GrAsoc\">associate degrees<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you wish classes or courses taken outside the United States to be considered, you must submit them to a validation process with an agency authorized for that. In the past, we have accepted the reports from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wes.org\/\">www.wes.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The academic programs of doctorates in <a href=\"https:\/\/md.rcm.upr.edu\/doctor-of-medicine-md-program\/\">Medicine<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dental.rcm.upr.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/BROCHURE_ADMISION_School_of_Dental_Medicine_SpanishVer.pdf\">Dental Medicine<\/a> have some limitations for the <strong>admission<\/strong> of students who are not residents of Puerto Rico but also opportunities in <strong>Rotations<\/strong>, <strong>Residences<\/strong> (specializations in <a href=\"https:\/\/md.rcm.upr.edu\/gme\/residency-training-programs\/\">medicine<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/dental.rcm.upr.edu\/advanced-placement-program\/\">dental medicine<\/a>) and <strong>Research<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If you are a college graduate, one of the first things you should do is to have your academic credentials evaluated. An institution accredited by the <strong>National Association of Credential Evaluation Services<\/strong> (NACES &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naces.org\/\">https:\/\/www.naces.org\/<\/a>) should examine all titles and certifications in order to verify their validity. For example, in the past the Medical Sciences Campus had accepted evaluations from World Education Services (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wes.org\/\">http:\/\/www.wes.org\/<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>English-language skills may be a requirement for some careers. Therefore, the majority of exams are written in English and the applicant must also pass the <strong>TOEFL<\/strong> (Test of English as a Foreign Language &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ets.org:443\/toefl\">http:\/\/www.ets.org\/toefl<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PROCEDURE FOR DOCTORS<\/strong> &#8211; Foreign doctors must submit academic credentials from their native country&#8217;s school of medicine to the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecfmg.org\/\">https:\/\/www.ecfmg.org\/<\/a>). To obtain ECFMG certification, they will be required to satisfy a series of tests offered throughout the year. Soon after, he or she must complete a Residency Program. A year after they complete their residence program, they should take the United States Medical Licensure Exam (USMLE &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmle.org\/\">https:\/\/www.usmle.org\/<\/a>). Then they should complete the second year of the Residency Program, among other steps.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>PROCEDURE FOR ODONTOLOGISTS<\/strong> &#8211; Dentists should first submit their credentials for evaluation to the Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ece.org\">https:\/\/www.ece.org<\/a>) agency. Later they should pass Part I and II of the National Board Dental Examination (NBDE &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/jcnde.ada.org\/search-results#q=examinations&amp;sort=relevancy\">https:\/\/jcnde.ada.org\/search-results#q=examinations&amp;sort=relevancy<\/a>)\u00a0 and present their results to the American Dental Association&#8217;s Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations. That is, you would have to do the last two years in our school and pass the boards or corresponding certifications to be able to exercise. For the residents of Puerto Rico, the Doctorate in Dental Medicine is a four-year program after completing the prerequisites of university courses that normally take from three to four years. This results in a total of seven to eight years after finishing high school. However, if you were already a dentist in your country, it would only be the last two years of study.
