The School of Pharmacy of the University of Puerto Rico congratulates Dr. Eliud Hernández, Associate Professor of the School of Pharmacy, for the grant awarded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The grant is in the amount of $150,000 per year for three years (08-01-2017 – 07-31-2020), plus $50,000 in indirect costs.

 

The major goals of the project entitled, Drug discovery of N-WASP inhibitors in metastatic breast cancer cell lines, are to design and synthesize new carbazole and indole derivatives and analyze the N-WASP inhibition and anti-migration potential in metastatic breast cancer cells.

 

We also want to recognize the collaboration of Dr. Suranganie Dharmawardhane (Collaborator), from the UPR School of Medicine, Department of Biochemistry and Dr. Peter A. Crooks (Mentor) from the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
