Admission Requirements

Minimum requirements: B.S. or M.S. degree from an internationally recognized institution. The applicant should be a major in one of the following fields: Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Sciences. In special cases, Bachelor or Master´s degrees in other related fields can be considered. In these cases, before submission of the application, the student will be encouraged to request approval from the Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs.

Additional Requirements

  • Average GPA of 2.75 or above.
  • Three letters of recommendation, which follow the established format. Letters should be requested from university professors who are able to comment on your qualifications for graduate studies.
  • Essay including career goals and reasons for interest in the program, research experience, accomplishments and awards or publications, if any (max. 800 words).
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Interview by the Graduate Committee (when invited).

Procedure to apply for admission

  • Submit an application for admission to the School of Pharmacy that will be processed by the Pharmacy Graduate Application Service (PharmGrad). Check dates to apply at pharmgrad.org
  • Submit an application for admission to the Medical Sciences Campus at https://solicitud.upr.edu.
  • The three letters of recommendation, essay and credit transcripts will be processed through PharmGrad and Electronic Application for studies in the Medical Sciences Campus. You must submit all the required documents on both platforms.
  • The application is considered incomplete if the student does not process both applications (PharmGrad and RCM). It is the responsibility of each student to verify and follow up on their applications before closing the deadline at the RCM Admissions Office.
